Dav has been with the practice since 1999 and became a Partner in 2015. He leads the Birmingham studio and oversees the design of major urban regeneration projects including Birmingham’s Paradise development in the city’s civic heart, along with the Curzon/HS2 and Martineau Galleries masterplans in the east.

He has significant experience in residential and commercial sectors including award-winning schemes such as Manchester’s One St Peter’s Square, 125 Deansgate and Two Chamberlain Square and Port Loop in Birmingham.

Dav is driven by a passion for developing regional towns and cities to meet their potential and to ensure they play their role in the UK, promoting healthy environments, active movement and quality of place. His integrity of exploring ideas to make places for landscaping and buildings is considered both at macro and micro scales.

He regularly sits on awards panels, including the RIBA National, International Awards and Stirling Prize shortlisting, and as a judge for the Housing Design Awards. Dav regularly speaks and writes on topics that are important to him and he writes a regular column for Building Design from a regional design perspective.

In his voluntary capacity, Dav is on the Board of Directors for B:Music, is an advocate for the NSPCC Charity, Vice-Chair of Open City and a member of the WM Town Centre Task Force. In a design review expertise role, Dav is a member of Design:Midlands, the Tower Hamlets Quality Review Panel and the HS2 Independent Design Panel.

Gurprit Bassi is a Director and Sustainability Lead at Wintech Group and provides strategic direction as part of his role. At Wintech he has been involved with many high-profile projects on major residential and commercial projects, both in the UK and Internationally. Furthermore, Gurprit has been instrumental in raising the profile of Façade Engineering and contributes as a speaker at many UK Conferences on the subject, with a particular focus on offsite construction and sustainability.

Gurprit earned his master’s degree in Façade Engineering from the University of Bath and is a Member of the Society of Façade Engineering within CIBSE.

Alex has over 20 years working in engineering consultancy of which 10 were spent delivering large complex multi-disciplinary projects in the Middle East and surrounding regions.

Since joining Cundall in 2016, he has led several teams improving the design management and delivery efficiency of Cundall. He has also delivered numerous Net Zero or low carbon schemes and is an advocate of decarbonising structural design solutions through material selection, efficient design and the repurposing of existing buildings.

Alex has delivered high-rise buildings across the world through to completion and is a contributing author / presenter on the viability of tall buildings in Birmingham. He also lead the engineering team on the Circular Twin research and development project that was awarded AJ100 Sustainability Initiative of the year award 2022.

Robert joined Glenn Howells Architects' Birmingham office in the summer of 2015 to work on London City Island, a new residential neighbourhood in Tower Hamlets which delivered over 1,700 new homes and the new HQ for English National Ballet.

Robert has recently led the design and delivery of Birmingham’s tallest residential tower in The Mercian which is a PRS building for Moda Living. He also recently led a consultation and visioning exercise for local stakeholders and developers with HS2 which explores opportunities for commercialisation of HS2- owned land.

Robert studied at the University of Westminster in 2010 and qualified as an Architect in 2012. Rob was made an Associate in 2018 and a Director in 2022. He has a keen interest in the future of housing and the developments of new neighbourhoods and regeneration of our cities.

Tom is a Partner at Quantem, based in their Birmingham office, he specialises in Quantity Surveying services and has been working in Birmingham and the West Midlands for over 18 years.

Tom predominantly focuses on Residential, Industrial, Commercial and Advance Manufacturing sectors, however he also has international experience in the Far East and more recently the Middle East.

In addition to the work Tom undertakes at Quantem, he has maintained an active role within the RICS. Tom is an APC assessor and is the current chair of the RICS West Midlands Regional Board.

Danny joined Wates Construction in early 2021 as Principal Façade Manager. His move to the Main Contractor sector follows over 25 years of experience with specialist façade subcontractors.

He currently supports the Midlands & Northern Business Units with all areas of façade delivery including design, procurement, commercial and operational aspects. He is also heavily involved with the business’s sustainability delivery targets and also with wider objectives including the requirements of the Building Safety Act and ensuring quality and value is delivered at each stage of the construction process.

Danny has extensive experience in commercial, residential and public sector delivery and, with in-depth knowledge of the façade supply chain, has been able to bring these advantages to the teams within the business.

Ange has 36 years’ experience in the construction industry, specialising in façades and envelope solutions. The level of knowledge and understanding acquired has led to her being recognised as an expert in the field, who currently sits on three Government advisory boards. She is currently supporting the review and development of the Hackitt Report, ensuring all guidance is in line with current and proposed fire regulations. Working across a variety of sectors, her most recent work has been within the residential, commercial, leisure and hotels market.

Ange has a background in curtain walling, rainscreen cladding, new façade and metal windows integration. She also has extensive experience of the supply chain, having developed her technical knowledge working within the system manufacturing industry, as well as consultancy.

Ange has developed an expertise in elements including acoustics, thermals and condensation risk, structural and fire. She has a good understanding of the design and quality process and is able to manage and drive the supply chain, providing the conduit between manufacturers and site.

Lisa is a Director of Glancy Nicholls Architects. Since joining the company in 2008 she has gained extensive knowledge in working with both public and private sectors. She has led projects with a master planning and regeneration focus across a range of sectors Residential, Commercial, Education, Health Care and Leisure. This experience has cemented her understanding in how to create successful mixed-use developments and fueled her desire to achieve quality design across both macro and micro scale. Her passion for Architecture stems from her ambition to design meaningful developments that improve the user experience.

Iain Gray is a Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Society of Façade Engineering (SFE), with over 15 years of experience within the UK façade industry working as a façade consultant as well as for leading specialist sub-contractors and manufacturers. His expertise covers all major technical areas of engineering a façade to the various standards, guidance documents, and best industry practices across the various materials and façade systems available. His experience also extends beyond the office and into to the real world, with experience ranging from physical testing to on-site inspections and failure investigations. Currently working at BB7, one of the UKs leading Specialist Fire Consultancies, Iain is in the process of launching a new Façade Consultancy arm that will look to bring these two typically separate industries together to provide more focussed support to the construction sector.

Stephen Tanno graduated from The University of Southampton in 1987 and worked as a Consulting Engineer for the next 16 years, including 5 years with Ove Arup in Sydney and 8 years as Group Director with Buro Happold, where he founded the Façade Engineering Group, in London. In 2003 he joined Schneider GB Ltd initially as UK Technical Director and later as UK Managing Director guiding the company to become a market leader. In 2011 He joined Seele GmbH as Projects Director, and in 2015 he joined Schueco International as Director of Pre-Constructions Services.

He is a chartered engineer in both the UK and Australia and has a consistent track record of leading and delivering complex and bespoke high quality projects. He is a lateral thinker and has an all-round appreciation for design, engineering, and build-ability. He has extensive knowledge of project delivery from initial planning and design stages right through construction and handover. In recent years Stephen has collaborated with numerous architects to develop sustainable and functional façade designs that went on to be implemented to a realistic budget through a reliable delivery mechanism by close collaboration with façade contractors.

Stefan has over ten years of experience in the façade industry and holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from his native Bulgaria. He has worked on an array of challenging projects across Europe and the Middle East.

Stefan specialises in complex façade designs with challenging structural requirements. He has an established reputation for delivering outstanding, clear façade designs, driven by the motivation to fully realise the architect’s vision.

He joined Schüco in January 2013 and has held various technical roles at the company’s office in London as well as the headquarters in Germany. Currently, Stefan is working as Head of Engineering UK and Ireland, delivering highly bespoke façade solutions for the company’s partners.

Frances joined Make in 2004 and has worked in Make’s London, Birmingham and Beijing studios. She has a wide variety of sector experience, with a particular focus on workplace. She has contributed to a number of projects in Birmingham: from the innovative mixed use The Cube, to Make’s masterplan and collection of buildings at Arena Central, including HSBC UK’s headquarters and a hub for the University of Birmingham.

Frances is passionate about low-carbon design, research and knowledge-sharing, particularly around embodied carbon and the circular economy. She also leads the studio’s outreach programme, Aspire, and volunteers as a speaker in schools.

Rob is a structural engineer with a passion for creating innovative, efficient and elegant structures having designed projects ranging from stone staircases and timber pavilions to city centre towers, railway stations and airports.

Having started his career with Arup, where he was brought up on the philosophy of ‘Total Design’, he now leads Webb Yates Engineers’ Birmingham office based in the Jewellery Quarter where he promotes a collaborative and inventive approach to engineering. Rob strongly believes that all buildings should be designed with sustainability in mind, making best use of finite resources and believes that the industry must challenge the status quo in order to innovate.

For over 10 years, he has collaborated with architects, façade consultants, main contractors, cladding sub-contractors and approved powder applicators on a wide spectrum of projects, across commercial, high-end residential, education, and health sectors.

Naveen has a strong track record in providing extensive technical and material support across the construction supply chain, delivering guidance on standard and bespoke finish solutions to complement the design of aluminium and steel facade components. This extends to offering in-depth insights into future colour trends, subsequently helping to shape the visual architectural landscape.

This breadth has given Naveen experience of all the problems that can occur in specification of coatings - from finish inconsistency, premature loss of colour, to corrosion failure.

A passionate advocate for early design engagement, Naveen has helped to define the character of notable façades including Kings Cross R7, 51 Newfoundland, and the soon to be installed Octagon Tower in Birmingham.

Drew Fentiman is an accomplished professional in the construction industry, with a new, unique focus on façade sealing technology and weatherproofing systems. He has dedicated his career to bringing clarity and innovation to construction organizations, striving to ensure that all projects are safe, compliant, and high-performing.

Drew has been working in the construction industry for many years, developing a strong reputation for his skill in product innovation, operational efficiency, and construction safety. Currently, he serves as a Main Contractor Consultant at OBEX Protection Ltd, a company specializing in manufacturing and distributing fire rated through-wall systems and membranes, and other related products.

Throughout his career, Drew has consistently demonstrated a commitment to supporting contractors in creating safer buildings with improved structural integrity, while also reducing risks in the installation process.

Miguel Silva has a relevant past experience of more than 20 years in the construction industry covering a wide range of façade systems in the weatherproofing thematic as well as special refurbishment, recladding and remedial works. With over 100 major projects completed as a weatherproofing consultant as well as technical director, he’s currently focused on the UK market on the façade weatherproofing. Some of the recent projects ongoing in this region are the One Nine Elms (R&F Properties),Deanston Wharf (Ballymore Group), Eden New Bailey at Salford Manchester, Kings Road (Berkeley Group) and Homebase by Vistry Partnerships.

Having a notable knowledge of the façade envelope weatherproofing requirements for the commercial, residential, education and health care, Miguel leads his team to deliver distinctive and complete support to the façade industry being responsible for the façade project design/detailing and specification and research & development at Effisus.

Adam Salt has been working for The A. Proctor Group since 2019 and has specialised in facades in high-rise, offsite and modular construction. Adam has years of experience in the high-rise sector, focusing on façade design, regulation compliance and innovation. By advocating a systems based approach to airtightness in façades, A. Proctor Group have simplified the build-up of through wall designs and pushed forward the specification and completion of safer and more robust solutions utilising technically advanced materials with proven performance. For over 80 years the A. Proctor Group have supplied technically advanced product solutions for all parts of the building envelope. In the façade and high rise sector, the ground breaking Wraptite self-adhesive and vapour permeable external air barrier membrane improves airtightness and simplifies design, installation and detailing, while lowering costs and ensuring compliance with technical standards. The A. Proctor Group’s experience of hygrothermal modelling and understanding of the balance of heat, air and moisture within the building envelope gives specifiers confidence in achieving a robust and effective envelope design.

Aneel is a façade consultant and heads up the Ramboll Birmingham office. He has over ten years in the industry, gaining knowledge and experience in the design of facades in a wide range of materials, from concept through to detailed design delivery. His particular interests are in off-site manufacturing and provision of quality spaces.

He has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering. He has a PhD from the University of Nottingham, where he pursued the development of an integrated façade component which globally addresses the issues of enclosure, aesthetics, energy/light transfer, weather tightness and mixed-mode ventilation principles.

He is also the Honorary Treasurer for the Society of Façade Engineers and Midlands Region Event Coordinator.

Alina is an Associate at FCBStudios, working principally on residential, commercial workplaces and school projects. Alina has a passion for environmental design of beautiful, considered architecture.

She is an accomplished designer and experienced in the delivery of projects on-site. Her portfolio with FCBStudios includes Accordia housing in Cambridge and a number of academies. Alina was the project architect for the RIBA award-winning schools Brighton Aldridge Community Academy, St Mary Magdalene Academy and Northampton Academy. She was also project architect for One Brighton, a housing scheme designed to 'One Planet Living’ principles and Battersea Exchange and St Mary's RC School, a mixed-use development in Battersea with 11 buildings including Viaduct arch refurbishment.

She is currently working on a commercial office building, Three Chamberlain Square, for MEPC Paradise development, and two residential buildings with 140 units in Kings Cross for Argent Related, currently onsite.

Tim has made a large impact on the industry in his short 4 years working in engineering consultancy. He has led the MEP design of Three Chamberlain Square, and at the same time dynamically simulated the operational energy usage. Tim graduated in 2019 with an MEng in Architecture and Environmental Engineering. The holistic building knowledge he generated has enabled the energy impact of design decisions to be championed throughout the RIBA Stages in all of his projects.

Tim has led mechanical building service design from strategic definition to completion throughout a number of sectors. He has a passion for technical excellence and sustainable development, enabling him to become a lead advocate for Cundall’s “Zero Carbon 2030” initiative in Birmingham. This leading innovation has led to Tim picking up a number of awards, such as the CIBSE WM Young Engineer of the Year and the BCO Graduate of the Year.

Alex Housden is a development manager with 17 years experience in the built environment. He is currently leading the development of Three Chamberlain Square, a 190,000sqft NIA commercial office building at Paradise Birmingham, a major commercial led mixed use development of 2 million sq/ft in the civic heart of the city. Located in a highly sensitive historic location, Three Chamberlain Square is designed to be a building of architectural excellence, complementing its surroundings and offering best in class environmental performance and workplace amenities.

Alex was formerly part of Argent’s Birmingham development team which moved to MEPC in 2021. Prior to joining Argent Alex was an associate director with a large multi-disciplinary consulting practice, providing project and cost management across several city centre commercial property, residential, higher education and transport developments.

Alex is a member of the RICS and the British Council for Offices.

Bart has been working for Spanish Façade Contractor Inasus SL for 18 years. Bart was responsible for developing and leading the UK operation for Inasus UK Ltd when the Company won the Contract for the design, fabrication and installation of the Heathrow Terminal T2A Project in 2010. The Project comprised 18,000m2 of unitised and bomb blast façade installed on a steelwork framework to the Terminal Building. Following the successful completion of the Terminal 2A façade, Bart continued to develop Inasus’s UK division and completed Projects at SOAS in London, the New Library at the University of Birmingham, One Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, Belfast Hospital, The Mercian, Birmingham’s tallest residential tower and is currently engaged in undertaking further major façade projects including Great Charles Street and Three Chamberlain Square, both in Birmingham and Google Bolands Bakery in Dublin.

Bart has worked closely with Developers, Architects, Contractors, Engineers and Product suppliers to bring innovative, cost effective and sustainable bespoke solutions to Façade Projects

Nick has been involved in the management of façade delivery on projects for the past 8 years in a variety of different sectors and system types. He is part of the Sir Robert McAlpine façades team, looking at projects based in the Midlands in particular Birmingham. He has recently just completed the delivery of the façade at One Centenary Way at the Paradise development for MECP and has been involved in the early engagement and PCSA for 3 Chamberlin Square for the last 2 years. He is currently in the process of completing the MSc in Façade Engineering.

Gianluca is an Associate at FMDC, one of the top façade and materials consultancies in the UK. He is a façade engineer with a strong background in building envelope physics; before moving to the UK, he completed a PhD in Italy where he studied the optimisation of façade design for energy savings and comfort. Since joining FMDC in 2017, he has been leading the Building Physics team and he has worked on projects across all stages, from concept design to construction. In recent years Gianluca’s keen interest in sustainability and low-carbon design has led him to coordinate FMDC’s efforts in investigating the role of façades in reducing both the operational and embodied carbon of buildings. Gianluca is also active in the UK construction industry writing and presenting about low carbon envelope design, and he was involved in writing the first ever methodology to calculate embodied carbon of façades.

Simon is the Assistant Director Development within the Planning and Development service area forb Birmingham City Council. As a qualified Architect Simon is Birmingham City Council's lead design advisor championing design quality within the built environment.

Having responsibility for 'Specific Specialist Areas' such as the City Design Team, City Centre Planning Management, City Centre Development, Enforcement and Householder Simon encourages and enables the highest standards of Place Making, Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Arboriculture, Historic Conservation and Landscape Design across all new development in the City for the benefit of all the citizens of Birmingham.

Simon is known for his ability to successfully combine Architecture and Urban Design to create holistic environments and is responsible for recent Masterplans such as ‘Birmingham Curzon HS2 Masterplan for growth’, ‘Birmingham Smithfield Masterplan’, ‘Langley Sustainable Urban Extension’ and most recently the ‘Rea Valley Urban Quarter Masterplan’.

This includes acting as the focal point on design issues and stimulating design quality through multiagency project team working and close interaction with external developers, key stakeholders and partners in relation to the design of new development being promoted and managed through the Planning and Development Service that reflects the international standing of the City of Birmingham.

Simon is listed in the Birmingham Central University ‘Sphere of Influence’ the 50 top influencers within the architecture and landscape sector to graduate from the Birmingham School of Architecture.

Graham is Technical Director at Siderise. He has worked in the business for over 22-years and his passion for product compliance and continuous improvement is integral to Siderise’s commitment to work with ‘integrity in all we do.

Michael joined BDP in 2017 and has experience working across multiple sectors, with a focus on workplace, with his most recent completion a new UK centre for Microsoft. Currently he is leading the refurbishment of the old Typhoo Tea Factory in Digbeth which will become the new home of the BBC in the region, with local developer Stoford. Michael also has key expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM), including a key role in the digital delivery of the refurbishment of the Palace of Westminster.

Michael has been involved with many Birmingham groups and initiatives over the years. He currently sits on Colmore BID Outstanding Places Working Group, is a member of the British Council for Offices and is a visiting critic at Birmingham School of Architecture. Michael is also is a Past President of the Birmingham Architectural Association.
